Recycling Democracy

So Stevie finally believes in climate change - and to prove that he's fully converted, he just ponied up a cool $1.5 billion plan to invest in reneweables... Liberal environment critic David McGuinty said (and I whole - heartedly agree), the Conservatives are simply "running around the country re-announcing" Liberal programs cut from the last budget...

That being said, I think that this announcement is a wonderful example of democracy in action (which I will be sure to drawn on the next time I come across the cynical non-voter)... this announcement is politicians doing exactly what they are supposed to do: respond to what Canadians want... WE said WE care about the environment and want solutions... so now we are (finally, belatedly, and unoriginally) getting what we asked for...

Actually, you can call him "Steve". If George can, so can the rest of us.

Mcguinty seems to be a popular pick for Environment critic. I've already confessed I dont know a lot about him.. so I'll be interested once Jan 29th rolls around to see how he handles Baird in QP.

Libs stole Conservative renewable energy ideas!!
Ontario came out with their first wind turbine 10 years AFTER Alberta (home of Harper and the Reform/Alliance Conservatives)

The first wind turbine in Ontario in Tiverton(1994, 10 years after Alberta); built to test winter temperatures.

Cowley Ridge Windplant, the FIRST commercial windplant in Canada, was completed in two phases - phase 1 being commissioned in 1993, and phase 2 in August of 1994.

.... Calgary-based Vision Quest Windelectric Inc., an industry pioneer that operates three wind farms near Pincher Creek, is the largest such company in Canada.

"Why in Alberta, the redneck oil patch?" says Jason Edworthy, one of three company founders. "Albertans are environmentally aware because they work in industries that have environmental sensitivities. That, combined with the entrepreneurial bent of the people here, is why we got involved."

Oh brother.

Wilson.. are you alright? Did you drink too much Tory Kool-Aid tonight or something?

Fortunately, there are sources out there that repudiate this type of nonsense you try to pass on:

All three programs are welcome additions to the Conservatives' modest arsenal of measures to fight climate change. The key point, though, is that they are all variants of policies introduced by the former Liberal government that were cancelled by Harper after he assumed power last January

Seriously.. try to come up with better Tory talking points.
